Success in life begins with faith. Faith leads to action and action leads to results. Without faith, there will be no action, and without action one gets nowhere.

(This is a translation of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III Wan Ko Yeshe Norbu’s philosophical sayings about worldly matters originally written in Chinese.)

Below is not an official translation, just for reference.

The achievement of everything in the world, whether in career, religion, scientific research, academic pursuits, be it in the realm of the phenomenal or the realm of the formless truth, success in all things must first possess confidence, must have trust. If even trust is lacking, it is impossible to proceed. To proceed under such circumstances would be against one's own heart, it would be self-forced, and thus it would be false. Only with confidence can one truly act, genuinely act, and naturally bear fruit and gain results. Without action or with false action, it would only waste time, and there would be no possibility of any gain. Therefore, it is explicitly stated to us that the presence or absence of gain should be based on confidence.
