Success is built on the experiences accumulated from setbacks. Giving up hope in an adverse situation is foolish. By pressing forward in the face of difficulties one will become wiser and achieve success.

(This is a translation of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III Wan Ko Yeshe Norbu’s philosophical sayings about worldly matters originally written in Chinese.)

Below is not an official translation, just for reference.

Success of everything in society, essentially speaking, comes from learning from setbacks and gaining experience from failures. If someone gives up and retreats after a single failure - rather than enduring through difficulties to succeed - they are ignorant and incompetent, and they will never have a future. Those who face difficulties head-on, are not afraid of challenges, find ways to overcome obstacles, and resolutely move forward are wise individuals. However, to face difficulties head-on, one must gain knowledge through continuous practice and learn from superior experiences. Only then can they ultimately achieve success in their endeavors.
